Who We Need.

We’re looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join our team and take a key role in building scalable, governed data pipelines that power AI applications across industrial environments.

As a Data Engineer at WolkAbout, you’ll contribute directly to the development of AIrport—our industrial data management and AI platform that turns fragmented OT and IT data into governed, AI-ready products.

You will work closely with data scientists, ML engineers and platform developers to ensure that raw operational and enterprise data is collected, transformed and delivered as AI-ready products within AIrport—our flagship industrial data management and AI platform.

Your Responsibilities

Take ownership of key components within the semantic modeling and data product lifecycle as part of the AIrport platform.
Design, build, and maintain large-scale, production-grade data pipelines to process structured and unstructured data.
Ensure scalability, efficiency, and reliability of data infrastructure across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments.
Integrate data from industrial systems, APIs, databases, and cloud sources into a centralized, governed data fabric.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve data quality, performance, and pipeline reliability.
Implement and maintain security protocols and best practices for data access, storage, and processing.
Collaborate with ML Engineers and Data Scientists to deliver clean, well-structured, and performant data features for training and deploying AI models.

What you bring

3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused engineering role.
Proficiency in Python or Scala, and experience with SQL.
Hands-on experience with modern data engineering tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt, Spark, Kafka).
Experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines in production environments.
Deep experience in custom integrations and data migrations.
Ability to work independently and reliably in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus points for

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
Experience with industrial data systems (e.g., SCADA, OPC UA, time-series databases).
Familiarity with semantic modeling, data product thinking, or data mesh principles.
Experience in LLM technologies or natural language processing (a plus).
